http://www.heritage.org/ Leadership for America
Fulfilling the mandate of liberty
America is a remarkable nation—a strong, prosperous and good nation—unique in its dedication to the principles of liberty and constitutional self-government. It is the hard work of freedom to perpetually renew this purpose and make it ever manifest in the politics and public life of our nation.
For more than 30 years, The Heritage Foundation has provided leadership for America , building a movement that launched a presidency, defeated a tyranny and turned the course of history. Now in a new century, the threats to our nation continue to grow and expand. Yet while the American people increasingly want better answers and solutions they are getting more slogans and promises.
It becomes our task, then, to build on our accomplishments, complete the unfinished work of the day and confront the expanding challenges before us.
Rediscover and revive the first principles of liberty
When asked what kind of government the Constitutional Convention had devised, Benjamin Franklin reportedly answered, “A republic — if you can keep it.” To keep our freedom intact, it is essential that Americans understand and preserve the underlying principles of freedom.
But this understanding is jeopardized on many fronts. Students in our high schools and colleges show a deplorable ignorance of the most basic facts of America 's founding. Our elected leaders in Washington routinely support legislation that overreaches constitutional limits on government. Judges in our courts of law, especially justices of the U.S. Supreme Court, have increasingly substituted their personal moral views for constitutional principles.
To shore up the principles that are the very foundations of American order, Heritage will pursue two broad objectives.
First Principles
Rule of Law
Restore the primary institutions of civil society
The Founders' conception of a free society and limited government rested on the strength of institutions that precede our constitutional order, particularly the family and religion. Through the family, religious congregations, other forms of association, as well as education, individuals learn the virtues necessary to sustain ordered liberty.
Americans have seen these foundations of freedom eroded by several forces. Family has declined and marriage has weakened under pressure from policy and cultural changes. The role of religious freedom in maintaining liberty and the contribution of faithful individuals and congregations to the common good are no longer adequately appreciated. Public education, intended to prepare future citizens for freedom, has become shackled by government bureaucracy and union power.
Toward restoring the primary institutions of civil society, Heritage will advance two main objectives.
Family and Religion
Education
Expand economic opportunity and prosperity
Americans today enjoy a growing, robust economy, and several key steps will ensure that our opportunities and prosperity will continue to flourish. We can achieve these ends by pursuing four objectives.
Entitlements. Entitlement programs — Social Security and Medicare — and even Medicaid threaten to swamp the federal budget and crowd out other priorities within two generations. The unfunded obligations for these programs is $175,000 for every American, these programs must be reformed so we do not pass along this untenable birth burden to our children and grandchildren. Moreover, if spending on these programs is not reined in, they represent a clear and present threat to low pro-growth taxes.
Health care. Health care costs continue to grow at double the rate of inflation. Our national spending for health care today is more than four times what we spend on national defense. As these costs spiral, so do health insurance premiums, making insurance unaffordable for an increasing number of Americans.
Energy and environment. As demand for oil increases, Americans must increasingly depend on unstable and unfriendly foreign nations that supply much of the world's oil. America is one of the few nations in the world to put known domestic supplies of oil and gas off limits to exploration. Harsh restrictions aimed at protecting the environment place coal out of favor, while viable clean air sources of energy like nuclear power are also taken off the table.
Entrepreneurship. The strength of our economy has always resided in the entrepreneurial spirit — that peculiar American willingness to dream great dreams and take great risks to achieve them. But in recent years this spirit has been stifled by a growing variety of regulations and taxes, making it ever harder for creative and inventive Americans to start new businesses and build them into success stories.
Ensure America's national security and its respect as a world leader
There's no question that rogue states like Iran are making progress toward building nuclear weapons and missile systems to deliver those weapons. Success in even one case create a clear and present danger of nuclear attack on the United States . In this global environment, the United States must develop and deploy a ballistic missile defense system that can stop missiles launched against our homeland.
In the broader war against global terrorism, the United States needs allies who share our commitment to freedom and democracy. To attract and keep those allies, we must regain our position as a respected and responsible leader among nations. Our strategy for advancing these two broad goals:

How's the idea of Melodrone holding a benefit concert and donating the proceeds to American troops and their families? a positive action instead of their usual badmouthing of our troops(and country.) and ridiculing the manner in which they provide freedom for all Americans.Put your money where your mouth is...I dare you guys to do something good for once for your country!

Hello again, Dan
I hope you feel better now!
Nothing like telling off a bunch of Marxist/Liberals, huh?
It is truly fascinating to me that people with your point of view exist.
How do you guys get the idea that Bush is a great President?
Hello!! Anyone home?
No amount of talking here will ever go anywhere.
You have your views, we have ours.
God, the thought of Obama as president must really creep you out.
Now there is a Commander in Chief that I would respect.
I am not going to go into any more of your accusations.
While it is fun to put a stick in your hornets nest of an idea of America, I am really not that interested in changing your mind.
Have a god life, Dan.

Ok...we get it. You hate Bush, you hate Republicans, you hate capitalism, you hate what America stands for but say you love it only because you live here. Liberals (Socialists, Marxists) always seem miserable, upset, and so full of hatred on a daily basis towards anything that makes America a strong country - ie. the millitary. I don't care if you and your band pals have that point of view. What I'e been saying from the beginning is that there is a time and place for voicing these opinions - voicing these opinions during your performances while unsuspecting patrons in your audience were expecting an aftternoon or evening of partisan free entertainment is not the place to do so. All we are asking is that you show some respect to the commander in chief, whoever it may be, because I'll tell you this-alot of people in this country may disagree with president Bush on some topics, but overall, an overwhelming majority of people in America do not hate this man. Agree with him or not, the man is a true leader-and history will soon prove that. So, blaming the high oil prices on president Bush only makes you guys sound assenine, and your angry rhetoric against the president and our troops makes you all appear treasonous. One more thing, take some time and read the Constitution of America-written by our forefathers. You will discover that our country was founded on the basis of freedom, right vs. wrong, good against evil. These are black and white issues. If this country were ever founded on "grey" issues, as some of you may wish, America would never have developed into the country it is today-strong, free, and the best country on planet Earth. Sadly, there are some who wish to weaken our country and push America more towards Socialism. So remember, keep the partisan rhetoric at home where it belongs.
Jesko
July 26, 2008
I am tired of you people like you that pretend that everything is black and white. Just because we are talking about what is wrong with The United States of America and the Bush administration we are America hating Marxists? I am grateful to not be living in a Dictatorship or Kingdom but in a democracy. Lets keep it that way and call things like they are. Let me draw a parallel. Your kids maybe do something stupid or maybe even dangerous sometimes, right? You still love them.... right.

In response to Robby Baier's June 18th Anti American tirade. Throuought the history of this great country (America)our troops have fought for freedom and the right for ungreatful people like Baier to be able to speak out against their country. Our millitary use words like honor, code, and loyalty. They use them as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. Marxists like Baier use them as a punchline. Who reallly has the time or the inclination to explain why a person such as Baier, who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom their millitary provides them and then questions the manner in which they provide it. Mr. Baier and his Marxist co-horts have every right to hate America...that's called freedom. I'd like to see Mr. Baier live in China or Korea and attempt to speak out negatively against those countries. If that were to happen, Mr. Baier and his Marxist pals would end up six feet under. So go ahead, Mr. Baier...keep on badmouthing America during your shows - and watch whatever fan base you have left dwindle as you offend the families and friends of our brave troops. You were correct on one point in your last post, Robbie...America IS #1! Maybe someday you'll be greatful and appreciative to realize that. But then again, probably not. Like I said before, keep the pollitical rhetoric at home. Just Shut Up and SING!

Dan, thanks for your passionate responses! We must have really made an impression on you since you have been eager to visit our message board again and again! You sound like a real patriot, a republican and Bush supporter. While we may not agree on many things we might agree on this one: What is truly great about this country is that people are free to express their opinions. Besides being an annoyance to you that afternoon, I am sure you would agree that there was no harm done to your kids while they listened to our music and lyrics. According to you, they were merely witnessing the music and views of a "42 year old who still plays in an unknown glorified garage band". I am also sure you set them straight about us liberals. We ought to be ashamed of ourselves for speaking out our views. It was a beautiful day by the river and we messed it all up by talking about how this country is screwing things up here at home and in the world. How inconvenient. Tell your kids not to take interest in anything we said (funny how kids are always most interested in the things their parents are against..., so good luck with that). You can also tell them that the singer and bass player are not even from this awesome country!. That's right!. These Germans should go back to where they came from. Who are they to comment on our society. America is number one!!!. Tell them that.

If "getting it' means driving around in a vegetable oil fueled car while badmouthing our troops, our president, and our country without offering any real or practical solutions to world problems....then no thanks - I'll leave that up to you guys. As for the compassion, thanks guy....there may me hope for you yet someday. In order to avoid pissing off any potential fan base in the future, tell that lead singer of yours to just SHUT UP AND SING....leave the pollitical crappolla at home.

1.) You cant be anti-war and pro troops. If you dont support the troops missions, then you dont support our troops. Liberals/Socialists have long been anti-military. Please explain how fighting for freedom and security makes the rich get richer - sounds like typical socialist blather. 2.)You can thank the enviro-nuts for the high gas prices. Their actions have thwarted any exploration of oil on American soil for the last 20 years - making us totally dependent on foreign oil. 3.) Since when did congress reinstate the draft - as Julie states below. The war in Iraq has been a success, violence is way down, and troops will be coming home soon. My original point was that thousands of people turned out for an evening of music and fun on the Albany waterfront and we all had to endure socialist rhetoric from an ignoramous lead singer of some 3rd rate band. Except for Kali Baba and Julie, I would guess that 90% of the people at the concert did not appreciate having to listen to anti-American jargon. Just SHUT UP AND SING...if you call that singing!
Julie

Right on Kali Baba! Let's see how this guy feels when his kids are either drafted or paying $10 a gallon for gas. I have been a long time Meldrome fan, and you are an awesome addition. You fit right in- musically and politically. Good job Robby & Jesko- keep Kali Baba around. He's a great drummer (and he's cute too :) )- Julie from Albany
Kali Baba
June 7, 2008
You obviously missed the point. The rhetoric you refer to is anti-war, but PRO-troops. Are you saying that you enjoy our fellow Americans dying for the rich to get richer? I also find it concerning that you enjoy paying outrageous money for gas...You continue to be a mindless sheep and you will only have yourself to blame when it all comes down.
Dan
June 7, 2008
Took my children to Albany riverfront for an evening of classic rock with Dennis DeYoung and was assulted with anti-troops, anti-war, anti-American rhetoric from the lead singer of Melodrome. He topped off the evening with this statement: "I saw on the way here that gas is now $5 a gallon...thats just not right...someone sure is profiting from this...I think it's George Bush!" The lead singer of Melodrome is a complete idiot! This guy is 42 years old and still plays in an unknown, glorified garage band. Time to get a real life and a real job...why?...because you have no talent for singing and your angry anti American attitude is getting tiresome. Leave your pollitical veiwpoints at home. Just SHUT UP AND SING! (if you call that singing!)

Went to see Dennis DeYoung Thursday in Albany and had to sit through nearly an hour of an angry, left leaning (MeloDrone)band with an ignorant political viewpoint and a lead singer that can't sing worth a damn. For future reference, leave the America hating, ignorant, socialist rants rants out of your performances. People don't want to hear your nonsence, nor do they care.

You guys really radiate a nice, solid sound, made even more impressive by the fact that you're a three piece band. Don't really find them too often nowadays even though they're the backbone of a true rock band. Vocals are excellent---kinda remind me of Lukas Rossi if you've ever heard of him. To Melodrome,
I just returned to my Pittsburgh home from the Canadian wilderness. There was a CD mysteriously left at my doorstep. Instantly I read through the cover to find Justin's name within the credits. "F&ck Me!" I thought to myself. "I missed him." Justin and I go way back...
It is always a good time when ever he is around. Better yet, some of my best and inspired guitar playing was fueled by Justin's jaw-dropping drumming power! He brings a lot of energy to the table. Y'all found yourselves one of the best! A real musician who makes every note count.
Finally, Monday came around and I got a chance to really check out the "Happens While You Blink" CD in my car on the way to work. (Like your former drummer, I've put my Rock 'n' Roll hat into the hobby bin for a life in homeowner-ville.) Melodrome has an established sound. A breath of fresh air. Can't wait to hear it again.
Bottom line, I am a fan.
Let me know if you plan on playing in Pittsburgh. WYEP (http://www.wyep.org/) should be playing this!!!

Many moons ago when you played at ST. Joseph College in Connecticut, you sang a song called "Blueprint." Loved it but you said you would be recording it in the fall. Um, still waiting. Any hope for a copy of that song in the future? Or a performance of it? Our whole family loves your music.

Hi Helena
here are the words to Water Like Love:
you and me are one
not muslim christian
just drops of endless rain
a woman like a man
yeah
the chemistry of peace
in everything there is
(I can feel it)
and it never fades away
it just changes slightly on it’s way home
raise it up
water like love for all of us
take a look at love
the one I’m thinking of
(she’s so beautiful)
expression of the sea (she is)
just water, mostly
her soul inside the rain
the one in her is me and is in every single thing
raise it up
water like love for all of us
raise it up
here’s one to love for all of us
raise it up
water like love for all of us
I can feel it coming down on me
raise it up
here’s one to love for all of us

Just listened to "love keeps me alive." I like it. Hoping to see you at Helsinkie Club. Looking for an artist?

On the Play America CD-track 3- there's a song with a chorus that sounds like
"Raise It Up" or "Crazy Love"
What are the lyrics to that one? Do you have a list of lyrics at all? Your words are powerful and intriguing and I want to be sure I have them right.
Vielen Dank!

Thanks for coming back to Woodstock! Great set but wish you had also played "Yesterday." Good time.

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security,
unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you
would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a
tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things.
Among them are...Texas oil millionaires and an occasional politician or
business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are
stupid."

HAPPENS WHILE YOU BLINK IS TRULY AMAZING. This is my
favorite of all of your albums thus far. Wow. You
really nailed it on this one buddy. You should have no
trouble getting major attention with these songs.
Something about it is fresh, light, with it, grooving.
Not heavy and dense. I also bought/downloaded it from
iTunes to give to a friend.

Hi guys!
Just wanted to let you know that the new album is a true inspiration
to me, everytime i hear one of your songs it makes me want to get a
grip on my own songwriting! I guess i´m one of the few fans from
sweden (yet), and I do spread the word about you. Everyone i play
your music to loves it, all 3 albums are great and robby... soul tube
is a masterpiece.
I´m also really fond of your production skills, the drums on "Highest
Ground" for instance...
If you ever visit Sweden maybe I can set you up with a gig in
Stockholm. I´ve been putting some club events together the past
couple of years.
If you got the time, feel free to check out the band I play the bass
in at www.united-band.com.
Lots of respect, and best wishes with the new album
